Less than 6 months (5) validity spanish passport

Hi, I will transit Guangzhou with less than 6 months (5 months and 15 days) and only for 16h until arriving to Madrid from Australia. I can read only 3 months are needed but you also say there’s cases where 6 months ar needed. Why is that? Can I be refused?

No, you won't be refused as you only transit in GZ, so it's OK to travel with your 5-month validity passport.
