Visa for Xinjiang and Limitation on Tourist Numbers

I am a Singaporean and hope to visit Xinjiang in June 2024 with my wife. Appreciate it if you could address my following concerns:

1. Do I need to apply for a visa to visit Xinjiang and be without problem booking accommodation at Urumqi, Fuyun, Hemu, Jiadengyu, Kuitun, Huocheng, Tekes and Nalati?

2. Is there any limit on the number of tourists allowed per day for each of the scenic points such as Hemu Village, Kanas and places of interest stated at (1)?

1. Generally, Singaporean passport holders can visit China visa-free for at most 15 days. If you want to stay longer, a Chinese visa is necessary.

However, if you want to visit some attractions near the border like Kanas and Hemu, you have to apply for a permit at the local Public Security Bureau and each permit is only available in one place. If you want to visit several attractions in different counties, you have to apply for it several times in different Public Security Bureaus. The permit is for free.

As for the accommodation, you have to stay in the hotels which are eligible to receive foreigners. However, it is not so easy to find these hotel when arriving and they are in hot demands. It is suggested to book hotels in advance.

Generally, foreigner are not allowed to enter the following attractions: Bai Haba, Horgos Port, Dukku Highway, Hejing, the Luobu Village, and Bayanbulak.

2. Yes, there are generally number limits in the scenic spots, especially in peak seasons. So it is better to book tickets in advance.
