About:Overstaying in China & Penalty

Can I apply for a work visa if I overstayed in the past?

I paid a fine and I was issued a pass to leave, now I have been offered a job but I would like to know if the overstaying is a problem to get a new work visa in China.

I'm afraid it may affect but it is better to confirm with the local Chinese embassy or consulate.
