144 hour transit free visa

We are flying from the United States to Xian with a stop in South Korea. We want to get the 144 hour transit free visa and we are wondering if we can visit Mount Huashan for the day and go back to Xian.Our flight leaves Xian to Hong Kong (direct flight).Question: Are we allowed to visit Mount Huashan for a day under the 144 hour transit visa?From Hong Kong we will travel with Royal Caribbean to South Korea and Japan and back to Beijing.   We are disembarking the ship on April 7th and staying in Beijing until April 10th. We fly from Beiing to USA on the 10th.Question: Would we be able to get the 144 hour transit visa, since we are coming in at the Tianjin port and departing from Beijing international airport?

The first and very important detail is that this is not a transit visa, but 144 hour visa free transit, so there is no visa of any kind.Your first itinerary that terminates in Hong Kong is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. Also, you are allowed to take a trip to Mount Huashan. Please, just have in mind that beside Xi'an, you are not allowed to have any other landing of any kind within mainland China. In other words, you have to have two nonstop flights from Seoul to Xi'an and from Xi'an to Hong Kong.Your second itinerary is also eligible for 144 hour visa free transit, but check the detail if your flight from Beijing back to US has a landing in a country preceding Beijing. In other words, if the last country within your cruise itinerary before Beijing was Japan, you are not allowed to travel to US via Japan or better to say, Japan is not allowed to be your immediate point after Beijing since it was the immediate point before Beijing.Using different ports/airports within one transit area, in your case Tianjin and Beijing is definitely allowed.
