About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 visa free to China

Hi,

I would like to check if this itinerary will allow me to apply for 144 visa free to China. My itinerary is as follows:

US > TPE (overnight stay) > Xiamen > Xian (overnight stay) > Beijing (layover) > US

Thanks!

No, it isn't. Under 144 hour visa free transit you are not allowed to have two or more mainland Chinese cities (destinations) in a row and you have three. In order to be eligible you will have to heavily redraw your itinerary to look something like this:

US - Taiwan - Xiamen - Hong Kong

Hong Kong - Beijing - US

As you can see, immediate points before and after your Chinese destination have to be in two different countries or eligible territories. Eligible territories are: Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.
