Hong Kong and Macau

Hello,
If I qualify for the 144 hour visa for Hong Kong, am I eligible to take a day trip to Macau? Or will this violate the law?

Hong Kong and Macau are not the subjects under the 144 hour visa free transit. In other words, you as US citizen can travel there absolutely visa free and commute between Hong Kong and Macau as much as you wish. Your visit to both Hong Kong and Macau are in the same category as if it would be your visit to Mexico.
