I’m Indonesian can I get VOA at the Hong Kong ShenZhen border?

I plan to travel to Shenzhen from Hong Kong for a day trip but I do not have a China visa. I hold an Indonesian passport. I’ve US visa, Schengen visa, Japan visa and UK visa attached to my passport. Can I get VOA? And which port?

Formally, you are eligible, but because of huge demand for Shenzhen visas on arrival, Chinese authorities have started limiting certain citizenship in order to manage the processing of so many applications. In other words, Indonesian citizens are among the citizenship where the success rate is low and it is usually advisable to Indonesians to obtain a Chinese visa in advance.

If you still want to try your luck, then I would suggest you to take the first morning ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou port in Shenzhen and to apply there for Shenzhen visa. There your chances will be noticeably higher because you are already in Shenzhen when the ferry docks there. You should just be aware of Shekou visa office opening hours: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 16:30.
