About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hour transit visa for USA - Shanghai - Hong Kong possible?

Is the following itinerary eligible for the 144 hour transit visa?

USA - SHA (connecting flight stop over in HK 2 hours)
stay in SHA for 120 hours
SHA - HK
stay in HK for 72 hours
HK - USA

I'm sorry but it doesn't qualify the 144-hour visa-free transit scheme because your stops before and after Shanghai are both HK.

You can make your itinerary eligible by replacing your flight from Shanghai to Hong Kong with flight from Shanghai to Macau. If you take a look at the map, Macau is very close and is well connected to Hong Kong, so you can just adapt your itinerary in this tiny segment and you can enjoy 144 hour visa free transit in wider Shanghai area.
