Well, this is always highly questionable. Technically, you should be allowed to do that, but as with every visa application you run a risk to be rejected. If you really have to stay in Shenzhen for more than 5 days, I would suggest you the following:
- Exit Shenzhen toward Hong Kong by high speed train in the late hours of your last possible day
- Have an overnight in Hong Kong and do not try to return to Shenzhen on the same day
- Take the first ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou port in Shenzhen. The reason is, the ferry will take you in the center of Shenzhen and it will be quite inconvenient to reject you because if they do, you would have to take a ferry back to Hong Kong and this represents quite a headache even for immigration authorities.
If you do like this, your chances to get a second VOA will be quite high.
