About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Passport validity

If I don’t leave the AirPort, is a passport with a validity of 4 months okay for a 4-hour layover in Bejing? (paris-Bejing-Tokyo)

I have already answered to very similar question to a guy from Belgium too. I will just copy and paste it again:

This is quite a tricky situation, but not so much regarding the Chinese immigration authorities because they will allow you to stay airside and proceed for Japan, but you will almost certainly encounter a problem at the time of check-in in Belgium where an airport officials could interpret the Chinese 6 months passport validity rule as a requirement even for your short transit in Beijing. So, be careful... The problem that you could encounter is probably at the check-in counter in Paris.
