About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Passport validity

Hey thanks for this article, I'm from Belgium and am going to Japan with a stop of 4 hours in Bejing. My passport is valid for 4 months (from arrival at bejing). I'm not intending to leave the airport. Do i need to anything and if so, am i eligible? (Paris -> Beijing -> Tokyo)

This is quite a tricky situation, but not so much regarding the Chinese immigration authorities because they will allow you to stay airside and proceed for Japan, but you will almost certainly encounter a problem at the time of check-in in Belgium where an airport officials could interpret the Chinese 6 months passport validity rule as a requirement even for your short transit in Beijing. So, be careful... The problem that you could encounter is probably at the check-in counter in Brussels.
