About:How to Apply a China Visa in Hong Kong

10-year visa in HK

Hello. My family and I live in HK. My child holds a US passport with a dependent visa, so she's able to live and go to school here in HK at the moment. Can she apply for a 10-year visa for China? Or is the 10-year visa only applicable to US-passport holders residing in the US (i.e., my daughter must apply at a Chinese Consulate in the US)?

Yes, it's not common to obtain a 10-year visa in a third region.

Good news! We tried our luck at the visa center at 151 Gloucester Rd, 20/F. We were expecting the 1-year multi-entry visa. We paid $1,780, waited only 3 days, and received an email notification that the passport was ready for pick-up. Today we picked it up and saw that our daughter was granted a 10-year visa, with each entry up to 60 days. The one caveat is that when my mother-in-law preciously called the center, the staff explained that our daughter's case is unique in that both my wife and I are HK residents by birth, while I became naturalized in the US (that's why my daughter, who was born in Singapore, only qualified for the US passport). I'm not sure if this has anything to do with her eligibility of the 10-year China visa, or if maybe China has opened up and trying to attract for visitors.
