Q1 while in China

I currently work in China and have the required Work Permit and Residency Permit for this. But once I marry my Chinese girlfriend, I want to quit my work and stay in China on a Q1 visa. Can I apply for a Q1 while in China or must I apply from my home country of UK? Also, if Q1 is from 1-5 years, how can I apply for the 5 year visa? Is there anything additional things I must do? Thanks all!!

As I know, it is possible to change it in China. However, you are suggested to confirm with local entry and exit administration bureau and the final result depends on them.

They often give one to two years max for the marriage related residency permit. And the most popular is one year to be honest, unless you are rich or maybe you come from a wealthy country(i don't know the role for this situation).

Once you go to the immigration(entry& exit bureau) in your city, you should ask clearly if you can work legally in the country with your new marriage related residency. As long as i remember it's a trick, you have to be careful, according to country's law you won't be allowed to legally work even in your own business. So, in my opinion, marriage related residency is dangerous. You and your lady need to discuss about the subject.

Wish you all the best !
