About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Layover in Guangzhou

Hello, I am holding a Vietnamese passport, flying from South Korea -> Guangzhou -> London. There is a 16 hours layover in Guangzhou. Can I leave the airport and stay a night in one hotel the city? Do I need a visa for that?

You are eligible for 24-hour visa free transit. But to leave the airside, you need to apply for a temporary entry permit; but I'm not sure if you can get it successfully or not. Anyway, good luck with you~

Hello, with regards to your reply above, what is the difference between a 24 TWOV and a 'temporary entry permit'?

I plan to transit through Beijing with a 20 hour stop-over. I'd like to book a hotel outside but close to the airport.

Kath, 24-hour visa free transit, as the name indicates, allows one to transit in China without a visa for at most 24 hours. But they cannot leave the airport. To leave the airport, then they need to apply for a temporary entry permit at the airport.
