About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

USA - Shangai - Hong Kong - USA

Hello,

Just for clarification!

My plan is to go from:
Los Angeles with a 2 hour layover in Taiwan to Shangai.

I would stay from 10:00 am thursday to 6:00 pm Saturday in Shangai.

Then, from Shangai to Hong Kong and then back to the US.

Do you think that is a good plan?

Thank you for the amazing detailed information.

Thanks!!

In fact, your itinerary of Taiwan - Shanghai - Hong Kong would be cared by China customs. Anyway, it doesn't matter as it is eligible for the 144-hour visa-free transit.

Hi,

Thank you for your response!

But since is only a 2 hour stopover in Taiwan, there is no customs right? No visa is needed if I am staying at the airport, correct?

It would count as Taiwan anyway?

Thanks!

Yes, US passport holders can transit visa free in Taiwan.
It would be count as Taiwan by China immigration staff for the 144-hour visa free transit.
