About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

From China to Korea

Hi-ho!
The question is:
Can I fly to Beijing > then move to Tianjin or Yantai by train > and finaly travel to Incheon(Korea) by ferry?
Would it be possible to use visa free transit on this route? The 24 hours or 144 hours one?

Yes, you can create an itinerary that will look like:

X country (different from both mainland China and South Korea) - Beijing transit area - Korea

Itinerary that looks like this is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing area that consists of Beijing and Tianjin cities and Hebei province. During those 144 hours, you are free to travel within this area, but not outside of it, so Yantai cannot be used and by the way, Yantai is not an eligible port for 144 hour visa free transit.

Your only option to leave this area by ship is to take twice a week Qin-In ferry from Qinhuangdao to Incheon. Anyway, I do not know if you can produce a ticket on this route before your arrival in Beijing. You have to know that an exit ticket is a prerequisite to be able to enjoy 144 hour visa free transit ticket. You cannot arrive in Beijing without the exit ticket.

You can fly from Beijing or Tianjin to Korea instead of trying to travel by ship.

By the way, at least at the time being and according to the best of my knowledge, there is ship passenger service from Tianjin to Korea. I hope this helps
