At the moment when you exit mainland China to Hong Kong, your visa ceases to be valid and you will need another visa to enter mainland China again. If you have a visa with two entries or more entries, in that case, you will be able to enter mainland China, but you should have in mind that in this case, your two entry visa, if you have such, will be fully used.
