Hello,
If I would like to travel from Hongkong to Shenzhen to Hongkong again, can I utilize the 24h free visa in Shenzhen just for a few hours visit?

No, you cannot do that, but you can apply and obtain a 5 days Shenzhen visa on arrival at several border crossing points like overland crossings at Luohu or Huanggang or even better by taking a morning ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou port in Shenzhen and after your short exploration return by any kind of transport you want. The ferry is recommended because the waiting times at Shekou port are the shortest.
