Exchanging CNY to USD on an R visa

I think I read somewhere that an R visa holder can more easily exchange money to take out of the country. But I can no longer find a reference to this. I would like to take $5K cash with me out of my compensation when I next leave in about 10 days. Suggestions?

I haven't heard such a policy. However, for R visa holders, they can enjoy different advantages in different cities. About taking out cash, according to China customs, all people can take out at most $5K cash without a declaration. So it is okay for you to take it.
