About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

UK, Guangzhou, Sydney

Hi,

I am traveling to Australia from the UK and transiting Guangzhou with a 14 hour layover. Do I need to apply for any visa pre departure to enter China?

No, you don't. With the itinerary, as you have presented it, you are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit.

You can approach, upon your landing in Guangzhou, to 24/144 hour visa free transit desk and apply for a free for temporary entry permit to be allowed to exit the airport since your layover is quite long. I assume that you will be granted one, although it is important to have in mind that this entry is granted on a discretional right of the airport immigration staff.
