About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hour transit visa

Hello,

first of all, thank you for your helpful guide!

My question is:
I found a route which goes by germany - beijing - taipei - hongkong
But the difficult part for me is, that the fligth to taipei has a layover in macau.
does it still count as a departure to a third country, as macau has seperate immigration laws or does it not, as the flight has a layover and is not direct out of mainland china?

Thank you for your help.

If I have properly understood, your itinerary in its entirety consists of the following stops:

Germany - Beijing - Macau - Taipei - Hong Kong

If I am correct, then your itinerary is perfectly eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in wider Beijing area (Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei provinces).

You are right regarding Macau because it really acts as a third country for this purpose as well as other two Chinese regions, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

One more detail... If I am correct, you will just say that you travel to Macau through Beijing using 144 hour visa free transit. Chinese authorities do not care where will you go after Macau.
