About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Manila(PHI)-Guangzhou-Hong Kong

I am a citizen of Russia. Estimated route is Manila(PHI)-Guangzhou-Hong Kong. It that route acceptable for 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong, Guangzhou ? Is ANY railway port of Guangzhou acceptable for departing to Hong Kong as per 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong rules or I must use Guangzhou East station only?

Your route, as well as citizenship are eligible for 144 hours visa free transit.

However, you have to arrive in Guangzhou with valid ticket that will show that you will continue toward Hong Kong after your stay in Guangdong province. Currently, the best option is to book online some of the through bus options.

Unfortunatelly, trains are not eligible as valid exit ports. High speed train is not useful and also Guangzhou East should be disregarded because there is no more so called through train that operated between Guangzhou East (also called Tianhe station) and Hung Hom station in Hong Kong.

Before the Covid times, the most practical was a ferry (catamaran) from Shekou port in Shenzhen because it was so easy to book a ticket from Shekou (Shenzhen) to Hong Kong on TurboJet website, but so far those ferry connections are not restored and is questionable if they will be because now the high speed train takes people from Shenzhen to the center of Hong Kong within minutes.

So, rely on the buses, but be careful. This has to be a through bus that goes all the way from Guangzhou to Hong Kong, preferably via Huanggang border crossing. You should have this bus ticket (confirmation) in your hands in hard copy.
