About:Visa on Arrival

Hi, how about Singapore passport?

Can a Singapore passport holder apply for 5-day visa to visit shenzhen at the Luohu Shenzen Port border? i am thinking of going to Shenzhen from Hongkong. But Guangzhou has a longer visa free period and one could do shenzhen as well. Does that mean we have to fly to guangzhou from hongkong? and later come down by train to Shenzhen for departure to other countries via hongkong airport? Of course, the Shenzhen visa only allow you within Shenzhen whereas Guangzhou allows you the entire guangdong province.

Actually, you are talking about two different things:

1. You are eligible for 5 days Shenzhen visa on arrival that you can obtain at Luohu border crossing, but be careful because the visa office is open just until 16:30. Also, you can exit back to Hong Kong in any way and by any mean. No limits. Yes, you are limited to Shenzhen city limits,of course.
2. When you talk about Guangzhou, you are talking about 144 hours visa free transit, so this is not a visa, but a transit during which you can stay and travel within the entire Guangdong province. To be eligible for 144 hours visa free transit, you have to fly from Hong Kong (or some other country) to Guangzhou. Also, before you depart for Guangzhou, you will have to buy a ticket that will take you to a third country/region and the most convenient in this case is Macau. So, you will buy a ticket for a ferry via TurboJet website from Shekou port in Shenzhen to Macau. So, this is a valid way how to use 144 hours visa free transit in Guangdong province.

Now, you can choose whatever you find more convenient.
