About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hour visa

Hi there!

We are thinking of the following route:

Sydney —> HongKong—> GuangDong —> Sydney

Would this be approved for 144hour visa? Or would we need to go back to HongKong before going back to Sydney?

Also, worst cast scenario if upon arrival in China and discovering 144hr visa is NOT applicable… are we able to apply for one upon landing?

Thanks!

The route you have presented is perfectly eligible for 144 hours visa free transit with just one detail to emphasize - you will have to fly from Hong Kong to Guangzhou to be able to enjoy this visa free option.

There are no problematic scenarios if you fly from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and then from Guangzhou or Shenzhen to Sydney. Also, you should have in mind that this is a visa free and not 144 hr visa. No visas at all :)

Thanks Borut!!

I was also hoping to get information on any documents we might need to fill out for this? Do we notify the airline before we fly or just notify when we land in China? Unfortunately I called up Cathay Airline today and they told me there is no such thing as 144hour transition and said I will need a visa :x

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you!
