Can I apply for an S-visa to take possession of my house in China?

Hi,

I am a US citizen, holding a 10-year Chinese Visa (issued in year 2019). In December 2019, I purchased a house in FoShan, Guangdong, China, just before COVID-19 started. I really need to go to China to take possesion of the house. I am retired and intend to live in China for 1/2 of each year.

Can I apply for an S1 visa for these private matters? If so, what are the required documents (I am not related to any foreigners who reside in China)? Do I need to pay another visa fee for this?

Many thanks!

Regards,
Yong-Seng Liang

In your case, only S visa is available but it is not guaranteed you will get it for sure. In addition to your passport and application form, you may need to submit the documents proving that you have a house in China. You need to pay another fee for the application.
