About:Overstaying in China & Penalty

I was expatriated because I overstayed 13 months due to Covid-19.

Can I go back and what do I need to do?

As you have overstayed for such a long time, I'm afraid you cannot get Chinese visa again.

Did they take you to jail for overstaying that long? Did you have to pay your ticket fee as well to get out?

Were you caught or did they only find out because you were trying to return back to the US? Also how much fine did you pay?

Back in January a new apartment agent added my WeChat. Then in February after Chinese New Year was over, he came to my apartment asking to take a picture of my passport page, visa page and the page stamped when i last left China. Which was the end of January of last year, right before China closed all of the borders. So i wasn't able to do a visa run since then. It was strange, he came to my apt askin for my passport when they have all my info already. I've lived in that same apt for 2 years.
March 3rd, that new agent sent me a msg on WeChat askin me to come to the office to sign papers for the new contract i said i'll stay for another 6 months. I told him i was busy, and i'd be home around 18:30 and when i got home, i sent him a msg. Then a few mins later, Knock Knock (police) 4 policemen were at my apt door. Only one could speak a little English. Told me to get my passport and go with them to the small police station. IT WAS ALL A SETUP. THANKS TO THE APT AGENT. STUPID SNITCH.......I had to stay the night at the police station. The next morning they cancelled my 10 year visa and i had to pay 10,000RMB + 6,500RMB flight from Xiamen to Los Angeles. Then i booked a flight home to Dallas. I should have moved out of that apt back in January.

Yes, i had to stay a night at the police station. Sign and thumb print many papers. The next morning i had to pay 10,000RMB + 6.500RMB for the flight from Xiamen to L.A.
