Can I get a working Visa for China on holiday in another country?

I am due to work for a big company in Beijing starting at the end of February, but I am a British citizen residing in Britain. There is a temporary suspension on us being able to get visas. I am desperate and will lose everything if I lose this job. Is there any way I can go abroad to apply for my visa? If yes where can I go?
I have my police check and signed completed medical check completed.
It’s so hard to find straight answers online!

Ella, as you have stayed in the UK during the past 14 days, it's hard for you to get a Chinese visa, even if you leave the country and apply for the visa in another country.
