Punishment if late to renew resident permit

I stay in china right now and my resident permit just expired yesterday .I want to renewal my resident permit ,but my university didn't give me permission to go out campus until next week.my question is : if I late to renewal my resident permit that chinese public security bureau give me some punishment or something else?

Yoga, if you renew your residence permit late, it means you have overstayed in China and you need to pay the fines caused by that.

500 rmb each day, up to 10,000 rmb total + possible jail time + deportation + ban on reentry... basically, don't risk it! Go to the govt office ASAP, explain your situation and hope for the best.
