Visa Extension

My visa expired in April, but then was extended until June through the 'Automatic 2 Month Extension for Foreigners.' Does anyone know if the policy will be rolled over to allow for another 60 days in China?

It's hard to say and to be determined by the virus situation in China. If it's not that serious by then, you may need to extend your visa in person or leave the country.

You need to wait and see. The case is not clear now.

You still have the option to file for an extension but they are usually not granted for longer than 30 days, so just wait until April 30th or later (given that the policy went into effect on March 1st) to see what they will do. If they are not automatically extending visas then you can file for that extension in May.

Hi, I would like to know how to get this Automatic 2 month visa extension. Do I need to go for formal visa extension or can I just stay without going through official processes for two month?

i was told by the psb the extension period will end on may 27th. you will have to leave china and return to your home country and re apply as all visas issued before 27/3/2020 are no longer valid. that is for business visa and tourist visa. work visa is not

It doesn’t make much since that they would make every single visa invalid like for people with family here in China what are they supposed to do ? They are just out of luck? I don’t really see how that is ethical and it doesn’t make much since especially when people have a son that’s a Chinese so I don’t think they just make all visas invalid

You have misunderstood the NIA. Current policy is that ENTRIES to China on visas issued before March 28th are suspended. The NIA is NOT invalidating visas and residence permits issued before March 28th, even when the holders are physically outside Mainland China (so that these people may continue to use their visas once the travel ban ends). A visa invalidation means the visa cannot be used for entry ever again (even when after the travel ban is over).

The NIA is NOT invalidating durations of stay beyond May 27th and the 60-day extension is still in force until announced otherwise. This is confirmed by the Q&A section on its own website. Keep in mind that the 60-day extension is a one-time deal so once that's done, anyone who still cannot leave Mainland China must file for an extension which will void a multiple-entry visa if you have one.
