144 hour visa for US Citizen

we (US Citizen) fly into Shanghai then after 4 days take a cruise which goes to Seoul (S Korea) then after 2 days it goes back to China (Tianjin) for 2 nights, then it goes to Juju Island (S Korea) and onwards to Japan.

is it qualified for 144 hours visa free since it leave China (Shanghai) but comes back to China (Tianjin) from S Korea (Seoul) and goes back to S Korea (Juju Island) on its way to Japan

For the layover in Shanghai, you qualify for the 144h visa-free transit. However, on your way back, the route Seoul - Tianjin - Juju Island is not a qualified transit route, so you need a visa.
