About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hours visa

Hi, My husband and I depart 12.20 from Manchester on 22/05/2020 and arrive at Shanghai Pudong
Airport 11.05 on 23/05/2020. We have an overnight stay in Shanghi.
We join a Royal Caribbean Cruise ship on 24th/05/2020 sailing to Japan and arrive back at Shanghi on
31st /05/2020 where we head directly to Shanghi Pudong Airport for our flight home.
Do we qualify for the 144 hour visa?
Many thanks for your help

First route is covered by the 144h twov (it's not a visa), return trip is covered by 24h twov.

In both cases you don't need any kind of visa.

As Thomas correctly said, you are NOT getting a visa. You will be in transit without visa. There is nothing to apply for online.

Sorry Saul, I realise I do keep getting mixed up with full visas and the transit visas. Do we need to complete some paper work at the airport/on the plane? I remember reading something about asking for some paperwork to fill in regarding our visit.
This travel guide is so helpful.
Many thanks again

You fill in your paperwork on arrival in China. When you check-in at Manchester, they will look in your passport for a visa. You will say "we are in transit without visa" and present your confirmed onward cruise tickets and itinerary. When you arrive in Shanghai, you follow the very obvious signs and fill in a form. Also print out your hotel reservation including the address and telephone number, because you will need them at the airport in Shanghai.
