About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Query re transit visa

Hi,

I am a UK citizen and my proposed itinerary is as follows:

LONDON TO SEOUL (24/11/20) - SEOUL TO SHANGHAI (09/12/20) - SHANGHAI TO LONDON (12/12/20)

Am I eligible for transit visa and if so, do I need to do anything else other than complete a landing card? Do I need to inform my hotel of anything or provide them with any info?

Thanks!

You don't need a transit visa. You will qualify for transit without visa. You don't inform your hotel, but you should have your hotel details and flight tickets printed for inspection.

Ok so no visa is required? Essentially, it is a visa on arrival? And I can stay for how long??

It is not a visa on arrival. It is a "transit without visa". When you check-in at London, you should use this terminology to avoid confusion. If you say "transit visa" or "visa on arrival" the check-in agent could deny your boarding because these things are not available to you. For example, a transit visa is something completely different, which you apply for at the embassy in advance. In your case there is no visa involved at all, for up to 144 hours in transit to a third country.
