Query about chinese visa

Hello,

I am a Nepali citizen and I am travelling from Busan(PUS) to Kathmandu(KTM) with layovers in Shanghai(PVG) and Kunming(KMG) via China Eastern Airline back and forth. I was wondering if I require a Chinese visa for my layover in Shanghai and Kunming? I have a 13 hours layover in Shanghai and 3 hours in Kunming while going and kind of the same while returning as well.

Bimal, if your total transit time, counted from your scheduled landing in Shanghai until your scheduled departure from Kunming is shorter than 24 hours, then you are eligible for 24 hour visa free transit. You should count that carefully and also for your flight back to Korea.

So, if your total transit time is shorter than 24 hours, the first thing you will do upon landing in Shanghai will be to approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will present your flight tickets. After a short check, you will be granted a permit and you will head to the immigration to formally enter China because your next flight to Kunming will be a domestic one. Upon landing in Kunming, you will cross the exit immigration and then head to the gate for your flight to Kathmandu.

During your return journey, you will do the same, but in reverse order. Now, the main thing is to count your total transit time carefully for both of your journeys. I hope, both of them are shorter than 24 hours.
