About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

London - Abu Dhabi - Beijing - Abu Dhabi - Lonson

Does this count as an exemption in the 144-hour category.

I have a layover in Abu Dhabi or does this not count and I would need to apply for a visa?

That is a visit to China and not a transit. You need a visa.
