About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Sydney - Beijing - London

I have a stop in Beijing on my way back to London from Sydney. I am considering travelling from Beijing to Shanghai and staying there with a friend for 5 days. Will I need a visa or will I be eligible for TWOV?

That would need a visa. TWOV allows transit in Beijing, or Shanghai, but not both.
