About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US to China (into Bejing and out of Shanghai) 5 days.

Its too late for me to apply for a regular VISA, so I wondered if the 144 hour option is possible? I have passport and an invitation letter

The 144h twov isn't an option for you as you have 2 stops in China.
The only way is to fly into Beijing, do your business, fly out of China and return to Shanghai to take your flight back home to the USA.
