can we use 144 hour transit visa?

Hi We fly from London and arrive in Beijing on 7April and fly to Korea on 8 April. We then fly from Korea to Beijing for 6 days then back to London. Can we use a 24 hour transit visa and then a 144 hour visa for our 2 stopovers? Second question please! If we can use a transit visa in Beijing for 6 days , can we travel to Xian for 1 day ? Many many thanks for your help.

You can do one Chinese transit to Korea and again back from Korea. You cannot travel to Xi'an since you are not allowed to leave Beijing / Tianjin/ Hebei Province during the transit, not even for a connecting flight.

You don’t need any visas for either entry to Beijing. But you may not travel to Xi’an unless you obtain a tourist (L) visa. To avoid confusion in London, please use the correct terminology. You are not travelling with a “transit visa” (which is something quite different that you apply for and pay for in advance of travel) but you will be in “transit without visa”. You will not get a visa at any stage, unless you want to travel outside the Beijing visa-free zone (which covers a substantial area) when you will need a tourist visa in advance.
