About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying to SFO, USA from Delhi, India via Guangzhou and Wuhan

I will be traveling to SFO from Delhi in Feb 2020.
I am an Indian citizen and I have B1/B2 Visa for the USA.

Route: Delhi → New Baiyun, Guangzhou (4h 05m Layover) → Wohnung (2h 00m Layover) → SFO
Return: SFO → Wuhan (2h 40m Layover) → New Baiyun, Guangzhou (7h 45m Layover) → Delhi

Will I need a transit visa? OR I am eligible for 24-hour TWOV?

No, you don't need any kind of visa because both of your itineraries are perfectly eligible for 24 hour visa free transit.

You will print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. Also, you will declare in Delhi that you will travel to San Francisco via China using 24 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection of your tickets, you will be allowed to board the plane. One more important detail. Here you will ask whether your luggage will be tagged all the way to San Francisco. If you are flying on a single (through) ticket, this will be a case almost for certain, but you should ask just for a case.

Upon arrival in Guangzhou, you will approach 24 hours visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit, to be allowed to continue your journey on a domestic flight between Guangzhou and Wuhan.

After a temporary entry permit is granted to you, you will just continue your journey first toward Wuhan and then toward San Francisco.

For your journey back, you will have the same procedure, but in reverse order.

Rozie, unfortunately, Malaysian citizens are not eligible for any kind of visa free transit at the time being, so you need to obtain a Chinese transit (G) visa if you have similar itinerary like Maulik from India.
