Transiting in Shenzhen

Hello, I'm an Austrian passport holder living in Shenzhen. I would like to fly to Myanmar, and there are cheap direct flights from Shenzhen airport. Can use either the transit visa or the VOA for that? I'm planning to cross into Shenzhen and then go to Shenzhen airport the same day to fly out?

Thanks a lot for helping to clarify!

Appologies, totally my mistake, I had a typo here. I do live in HK, not Shenzhen. What I wanted to say is:

Max, I have to admit that I really don't understand your question. You have written that you are living in Shenzhen and also that you would like to travel from Shenzhen to Myanmar. If you are living in Shenzhen, I assume that you have some kind of, at least, a temporary residence permit and that status would allow you to take freely the flights out and to Shenzhen, including those to Myanmar.

Having in mind the mentioned, I really cannot find the answer to your question because I cannot understand why would you take any kind of flight based on visa free transit if you are living in Shenzhen? I sincerely apologize for my poor understanding of your question, but for your benefit and for my proper understanding of your planned travel intentions, I encourage you to to explain your situation. Thanks.

Well, this is something totally different :)

Yes, you are definitely allowed to cross to Shenzhen from Hong Kong through three eligible border crossings (Lo Wu / Luohu, Huanggang and Shekou) where you will obtain a Shenzhen VOA at the price of 168 CNY for Austrian citizens and as soon as you have obtained a visa, you can proceed to the airport and take a flight to Myanmar. Please, have in mind that your flight out of Shenzhen has to be a direct flight, without any additional landing in mainland China of any kind.

If you intend to return to Hong Kong via Shenzhen, then you can rely on 144 hour visa free transit. In other words, you will have to book a ferry ticket from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, but the difference between your scheduled arrival by plane and your scheduled departure by ferry from Shenzhen Shekou has to be at least 25 hours to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. To book your ferry ticket, you will visit CKS - Chu Kong Passenger transport website where you will make a booking. After your booking is done, you will receive an e-confirmation that you will print out and take that printout with you as a proof of your transit intention. Please, have in mind that you will have to take exactly that ferry you have bough your tickets for.

To conclude, to travel to some other country from Shenzhen, you will just cross the border by obtaining a Shenzhen VOA and if returning via Shenzhen back to Hong Kong, you will rely on 144 hour visa free transit as described in the text.
