About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a visa or tai bao zheng?

I'm from Taiwan. I'm flying from United State (LAX) to Taiwan (TPE), but transit in Xiamen for 4 hr. Do I need a visa or tai bao zheng?

You can either get a Taiwan Compatriot Permit on arrival (I believe it's 50 CNY plus a photo fee) or apply for a Chinese Travel Document at a Chinese consulate or embassy at a cost of US$25 if you don't have US citizenship (valid for 2 years and multiple entries to Mainland China). Keep in mind that the visa counter at Xiamen airport may not be open 24/7 so airline may refuse boarding if your flight arrives outside normal business hours (Check with Xiamen Air).
