This is perfectly possible in one direction, but you are advised to stay within Guangdong province for more than 24 hours to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit.

If you intend to travel to Hong Kong, you can use a ferry departing from Shenzhen Shekou port and keep in mind that you will have to book a ferry ticket before your arrival in China. To book a ticket for Hong Kong, you will use CKS - Chu Kong Passenger transport website. When you book your ferry ticket, you will receive an e-confirmation that you will have to print out and to bring that printout with you. It will serve you as a proof of your transit and also to collect your real paper ticket at Shenzhen Shekou terminal.

You have to take exactly that ferry you have bough your ticket for.

In short, when you book a ferry ticket, you will appear at check-in in Hanoi where you will declare that you will travel to Hong Kong via Guangzhou and Shenzhen using 144 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection of your tickets, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon your landing in Guangzhou, you will approach 144 hour visa free transit where you will fill out a blue form and shortly after, you will be allowed to exit the airport.

One more detail. It is highly advisable to book at least your first overnight in China in advance and to have that confirmation like a printout because within the blue form, you will encounter several questions about your accommodation.

To travel back from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and then to Hanoi, you will have to take a direct flight from Hong Kong to Guangzhou. This is the only way how you could be eligible for any kind of visa free transit option. As you can see, when you travel in reverse direction, you cannot use any other mean of transport beside the plane on that specific route.

Part one:

Yes, it is allowed to use a train within your 144 hour visa free transit. You should have in mind that you will have to book your ticket in advance, but be warned you are not allowed to book this ticket on official MTR website because they do not provide your name on an e-confirmation that you will receive. They are the cheapest, but unfortunately they are not eligible address because of this reason. You are advised to book this ticket through a couple of other reliable websites, including this one. You will do it like this:

- When you decide when you will travel from Guangzhou to Hong Kong, you will book this train ticket. You have to use a train departing from Guangzhou East to Hong Kong Hung Hom railway station. This is the only eligible train, but it is fine because it takes just about 2 hours to reach Hong Kong.
- During your booking you will have to provide an address on which the real paper ticket will be delivered, so this implies that you will have to make a booking of your accommodation in advance for at least for the first overnight. Also, this booking has a fee for delivery costs. Anyway, regardless of the fact that you will have to pay this fee, the train option remains the most comfortable, the cheapest and the fastest option to travel between Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
- After your successful booking, you will receive an e-confirmation that you will print out and bring that printout with you. This will be your proof that you are really in a transit.

Part two:

- During your check-in in Hanoi, you will present your e-confirmation printout and if you realize that the airport staff do not understand what you want, although I assume they will understand, you will kindly point them to Timatic where they will clearly see that your option is definitely eligible.
- Upon arrival in your accommodation you will collect your real paper ticket that will be sent for you there.
- Please, keep in mind that you really have to take exactly that train you have bough your ticket for.

As far as your second question is concerned about Luohu and the crossing by bus, I have to admit that I did not properly understand you. I did not understand whether you want to travel from Luohu to Hong Kong or from Hong Kong to Luohu.

If you intend to travel from Luohu to Hong Kong by bus under 144 hour visa free transit, this is not possible. As I have already mentioned, the only eligible way how you can travel from Shenzhen to Hong Kong under 144 hour visa free transit is to take a ferry from Shenzhen Shekou to Hong Kong.

Anyway, if you want to go to Luohu area of Shenzhen from Hong Kong, you will take a train until Lo Wu border crossing, then walk some 100 meters to Luohu border crossing where you can apply for a 5 day Shenzhen VOA. After that, you can proceed to almost every part of Shenzhen city by metro. Anyway, you should be aware that with 5 day Shenzhen VOA you are allowed to travel only within Shenzhen city boundaries. You cannot travel from Shenzhen to Guangzhou foe example.

If you need some additional clarification or in case that I did not properly understand you, you are invited to write here and I will try to answer to you in the best possible way.
