About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

3 layovers in China

I am a UK citizen and I will be going to Manila via Beijing (11 hour layover) and then on the way back, Beijing (2hours) and Chengdu (14 hours)
Will I be able to leave the airport and site see for my long layovers and will I need a visa?

Both of your itineraries are eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need a visa.

During your first itinerary, you will apply for a temporary entry permit upon landing at 24 hour visa free transit counter. Since your layover is quite long, your chances to be granted a temporary entry permit are very good. I assume that your layover is mostly during the day hours, otherwise I would suggest you to book an accommodation in advance and to have with you a confirmation.

During your second itinerary, you will do the same thing in Beijing (apply for a temporary entry permit) and here you really don't have to worry about your eligibility for a temporary entry permit because your next flight, the one to Chengdu, will be a domestic one. In other words, when you arrive in Chengdu, you will be perfectly allowed to exit the airport and to enjoy sightseeing.

Please, have in mind to print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you.
