About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Refugee travel document

I am a NZ resident and have a refugee travel document from New Zealand. Does the 24 hours transit apply as well as long as i dont leave the airport?

Yes, you are eligible for 24 hour visa free transit under the following conditions:

- You should travel on a single (through) ticket
- You should have only one stop within China
- Your layover should be less than 12 hours

Of course, these are not usual requirements for 24 hour visa free transit, but the practice of Chinese immigration authorities in relation to passengers with refugee travel documents are definitively stricter than with passengers traveling on "usual" travel documents. So, if your travel plan through China fulfills the above mentioned requirements, you are fine to book your ticket on your planned route. If this is not a case, you are advised to consider some other travel routes.
