About:Visa on Arrival

I have been told it is no longer possible to get a 5 day Visa on arrival at Shenzhen airport.

Is this true?

It is true. Anyway, instead of a Shenzhen VOA, you can use 144 hour visa free transit with short trip to Hong Kong and after that you can return to Shenzhen by obtaining a VOA at the border crossing, preferably at Lo Wu / Luohu crossing. Of course, to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit, your flight to Shenzhen is not allowed to have any landing within mainland China immediately before your landing in Shenzhen.
