Self-transfer & Airline change at Guangzhou

Hello,

Flight route: Osaka-Guangzhou-Bangkok
I am flying from Osaka to Guangzhou by Spring Airlines, have a 3-hour long layover at Guangzhou, and then will fly from Guangzhou to Bangkok by AirAsia. I need to perform an airline change in Guangzhou. I will need to go out of the immigration area and check-in with the new airline.
Both my flights are on the same Terminal.

I am an Indian citizen and I know that the 24-hour free transit rule is applicable to my passport.
My question is:
What is the exact procedure to follow after I land at Guangzhou- for taking the free transit permit and move out of the immigration area to the check-in counters?
Where and how should I apply for the transit permit? After landing, should I go towards the exit or towards the international transfers?
Do you think 3 hours is enough for the same, provided I do not have any check-in luggage?

Also, I have no intention of getting out of the airport. I just want to reach the check-in counters.

I am not very clear from what I found in the airline or the airport website. Any answers would be really helpful!
Thanks a lot!

If possible (assuming no checked luggage), do your online check-in with AirAsia and print your boarding pass before you leave Osaka. Then you can have a very simple international-international connection airside, with just a quick boarding pass and passport check and security. If you don't have an AirAsia boarding pass then you will have to print your AirAsia eticket, fill in a landing card, pass immigration and customs, go to departures, check-in, and pass immigration and security again. I think you can see that the first option is much simpler!

Hi
Thanks a lot for your reply.
I am surely planning to get my AirAsia boarding pass printed beforehand.
But its mentioned in AirAsia's website that I need to get my documents verified by AirAsia before boarding. I guess that can only be done at CheckIn counters, no? Can it be done by staying in the international-international airside transfers without crossing the immigration?

I would expect that any document check can be done by the gate agents. Just get to the gate in good time and approach the agents there.

I checked with AirAsia and just want to reply with the final conclusion here in case someone needs it in future. AirAsia informed me that even if I print the boarding pass (for my flight Guangzhou-Bangkok) and have it with me beforehand, I still have to clear immigration and check-in again at the AirAsia Check-in counters.

Thank you!
