Transit Visa Guangdong

Dear Sir,

If arriving to Shantou Guangdong by train from Hong Kong, and then leaving to Vietnam by Air from Guangzhou airport, is it ok for 72H transit visa?

No, unfortunately, this is not possible. The only way to be eligible for 24 or 144 hour visa free transit in Guangdong province, when arriving from Hong Kong or Macau, is by plane.

Having in mind that you will travel to Shantou, I suggest you to take a very convenient flight from Macau airport to Jieyang Chaoshan airport (Air Macau and Spring Airlines). Like this, you will be eligible for 24 or 144 hours visa free transit in entire Guangdong province. You can easily reach Macau airport from Hong Kong.

By the way, 72 hour visa free transit has been replaced in Guangdong province by 144 hour visa free transit in May of this year. Also, it is not 72 hour transit visa, but 144 hours visa free transit. In other words, there is no visa at all.

After you reach Shantou, you are free to travel and stay within the entire Guangdong province and in the end, you will take your flight from Guangzhou to Vietnam.

Of course I am. Anyway, this is not a transit visa, but 144 hour visa free transit or in other words a travel without any kind of visa.

You will print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. Also, you will declare at check-in in Macau that you will travel to Vietnam via Guangdong province using 144 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon arrival at Jieyang Chaoshan airport (sometimes called Shantou airport), you will approach 144 hour visa free transit counter where you will fill out the blue form and shortly after you will get a sticker allowing you to stay within the entire Guangdong province visa free.
