About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

I am looking to visit friend in Haikou in late June 2020.

I am planning to visit friend in Haikou in late June 2020, they have offered to let me stay in their apartment. Can I stay in their apartment or will I need to have reservation at hotel? My stay would be foe two weeks. Would I be able to use the 30 day free visa access. I am from the United States. Also, how many times can I use 30 day free visa travel per year to Haikou?

Part one:

Ed, you are definitely allowed to visit Hainan island using 30 day visa free access. Also, you are allowed to stay at the apartment offered by your friends. This is all fine and you should just keep in mind that you will have to supply the agency that you will use for 30 day visa free access the data about the address, the person that will be your host and also his/her phone number. Also, your host will accompany you to the local police station where you will perform a registration within 24 hours from your arrival in Haikou. Some of the local agencies with English speaking staff: Hainan Kangtai Travel, Hainan Haoyang International Travel Agent, China Travel International Sanyaco, Hainan Classic Holiday Travel Agent.

Here are the steps you will have to accomplish before your departure:

- You are supposed to determine how many days you will spend in Hainan province
- You should also take care of your flight tickets and here one warning... You are not allowed to arrive to Hainan by taking a flight through some other mainland Chinese airport. The best option is Hong Kong, but keep in mind that this flight has to be nonstop and not again through some of mainland Chinese airports. Also, you are not allowed to leave Hainan on a flight that has a stop in mainland China, immediately after you leave Hainan island.

Part two:

- After you have determined the above mentioned, you will write down your short itinerary in English language that will have most of your details that you will do while in Hainan, but very shortly.
- You will contact a relevant agency that supports a correspondence in English language, one of the above mentioned.
- Keep in mind that during your correspondence you will be offered several services and you are supposed to accept one or more of them according to your preferences. The mentioned offers range from an airport transfer to multi day trips.

As you can see, this procedure will ensure you that you will be allowed to board the plane, to enter Hainan and to enjoy your time there without the need to obtain a visa. This procedure could appear to be somewhat complicated, but in reality it is not because the agency is doing its part very fast and everything is done within 3 or 4 working days and when everything is done, the agency will send you an invitation that will undeniably allow you to enter Hainan visa free.
