About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

2 Hour layover transit in Haikou International Airport

I'm booking flight from Dubai to Sydney on 25th of April 2025, the layover is 2 hour and the flight is by Hainan Airline in Haikou Meilan International Airport. According to the airline's policy, my baggage will not be checked through. I need to collect and re-check my baggage at Meilan International Airport. I'm from Iran and I am holding Iranian passport. Please advise if I can use 24 Hour transit free Visa.

Hamidreza, your flight itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. However, I have to point out that your transit time in Haikou is quite a short one. It is doable, but you will have to be very agile and fast in every segment. So, upon your landing in Haikou, the very first thing you will do will be to run to 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets. After a short check, you will be granted a permit because you will have to collect your luggage and to perform new check-in. After a permit is granted, you will run to the immigration and then toward the luggage belts to collect your luggage. When the luggage is collected, you will run to the check-in counters to perform a check-in for your flight to Sydney. If will be stressful, but doable with good nerves and a willingness to be everywhere the first. In any case, you do not need a visa, but you will need to be loud and to succeed in the run around the Haikou airport. I wish you all success and a pleasant journey.
