About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I stay with a friend in Guangzhou?!

Hi! I'm using the 144 hour visa in Guangzhou.
Is it a problem if I stay with a friend instead of staying in a Hotel? Do I write my friends address on the arrival card?

If you stay private you have to register at the police station yourself otherwise you'll get some problems the next time you come to China.

Thanks! So could i stay at a hotel the first night so they register me, then the rest of the nights stay with a friend?

That is not advised in case of your checkout time is reported to the police, resulting in additional questioning by immigration when you leave the country. Unless your friend is staying without status in China, he is obligated to accompany you to the nearest police station to register anyway when you have moved to his place.

Thank you so much! Is it any police station in Guangzhou? Or a specific police station? How long does it take to register? Do to u know of any police stations in Guangzhou that are accustomed to doing this? Thank you!

It will be the local police station office responsible for the building where you are staying. It will probably be within walking distance. They are all accustomed to doing it. If you both take all your documention then it shouldn't take long.
