About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travelling from Sydney - Taiwan - Shanghai - Sydney but not leaving airport in Taiwan. Is this ok?

Staying in Shanghai for 60 hours. Australian passport with no bad records and no previous China visa

It is ok and you don't need to leave the airport in Taiwan. Your Shanghai-Sydney flight must not stop in Taiwan or mainland China.
